Legend Trippers is, in many ways, an homage to classic creature-features like King Kong and the more modern Jurassic Park. One of the big appeals with these types of stories, obviously, is bringing together different “monsters” into one narrative and letting the sparks fly.
In Legend Trippers, five species of “cryptids” – animals who have not been officially proven to exist – appear in all their flesh and blood glory. I’ve posted the concept art for two cryptids so far – a heroic Sasquatch and an organ-harvesting Chupacabra.
Here is the concept sketch for a third species. Known as “Owlmen,” these creatures are primarily based on the eyewitness reports of winged, red-eyed humanoids from the village of Mawnan, Cornwall. Similar creatures include “Thunderbirds” from Navajo folklore.
There’s a battle scene between an Owlman and a Sasquatch which was a ton of fun to write. Reminiscent of the climatic fight from Frankenstein meets the Wolf Man.
Coming soon, the final version. Plus, you can check out the completed designs for the Sasquatch and Chupacabra on the Concept Art page
